In life, many people are leaders. You have to take up a leadership role for your children in your home, for your siblings, if you are the most senior, and sometimes, in your workplace. So, what does it take to succeed, I mean, massively succeed, as a Leader?
My Own Experiences.
I watched a lot of leaders -in Secondary School situations. As a young teacher, I found myself being very unhappy about the way my Head of English Department then was leading us. There seemed to me to be no real vision or even ambition about what we were supposed to achieve and how we would achieve them.
I felt as if we were just floating about, and the wind of “failure” would blow us and our students off the face of the earth. And I worried. I hated failure, so I made formal complaints to the Head teacher…Things didn’t change, so I moved to a better-run school, with a Head teacher who had a Vision for her School and allowed us staff members to share and contribute to that vision, which then became our collective mission. And that mission was to succeed as members of staff, so we could motivate our students on how best to reach their own goals – that of getting at least 5A-C s in their GCSE examinations.
My Leadership Roles.
As Head of English Departments in many schools and an Outstanding Headteacher of a Girls’ Secondary School, I led my Staff and Students to huge and outstanding successes.
